The obvious front runners are Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan and Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania, but whoever it is will have been tested through a primary process, as Harris was not.
Good piece as I’d expect from Ian. But the “problem” continually is that the politics of easy answers never ends up delivering the change it promises to the people who want it. What then?
This is a fantastic article and a perfect antidote to left wing elitists (like me!). It's also an indictment of the meritocratic ideal that has polarised society on both sides of the pond.

It’ll be a Democrat from a red state- like Truman, Johnson, Carter, or Bill Clinton. A proven deliverer at local level.
